Tips!
Here are some Tips on Fostering LIFT's enrichment philosophy at home!
* Help your kids (at any age) to develop there scientific minds by asking open-ended questions, encouraging curiosity, and promoting imagination!
* Encourage lots of imaginative play- with "basic" toys and supplies. This has the mega benefits of developing your child's mind and abilities rather than have a toy or a game that does the creativity, thought, and work of play itself! This also means lots of outside time as well!
* Read - read - read - read!!!
* Probably the very best thing you could do to increase their attention span and develop their minds for creativity, thought, and learning (in addition to tons of reading)- is to limit any electronic device in their lives as much as possible. The less electronic media - the greater the learning, creativity, imagination, and attention span.

First LIFT class!
Well after all the delays of winter weather, we finally had our much anticipated first LIFT class! :)
I am so excited to spend the semester with all of these great kids each week!
This week, we learned about The Scientific Method!
Each class was unique and did different amounts of activities.
We spent this weeks class : Engaging in open conversation, conducting Science experiments and using and promoting creativity!
We learned about the purpose and meaning of science.
We talked about the importance of the Scientific Method and the 5 components you need to follow it:
1. Purpose/Question
2. Research
3. Hypothesis
4. Experiments
5. Analysis/conclusion
Most importantly though, the kids now understand the "WHY".
Why... we need scientist. Why... we need the scientific Method. Why... we write down our scientific findings. Why... we need to know truth in contrast to lies!
FOLLOW UP:
If you would like to follow up on the things we have learned at lift here are some things to do at home.
* Each Child was sent home a slip of paper in their folder with a "WEEKLY CHALLENGE"
This weeks (optional) assignment is to get some books from the library about at least one of the following scientist and read about them and come back to class with 3 interesting and fascinating facts they learned!
Here again are the scientist to choose from
- Galleleo
-Marie Curie
-Sir Isaac Newton
- Louis Pastuer
Remember, Learning doesn't have to be boring! Get fun books with cool pictures and interesting things about these famous scientists
*Ask your child to tell you about the Scientific method, Roger Bacon (developer of method)and the science experiments we conducted!
THIS WEEKS CLASS PROVED THAT LEARNING IS FUN TOGETHER!
(And here are some pics to prove it!)
